Mt Harmon Plantation Reenactment

The Marine contingent participated at the Mount Harmon Battle Reenactment on 25 and 26 October led by Sergeant Shackleford as the Captain was in charge of leading the battles these two days.

There was a little bit of everything taking place at this event.  From participating in the battles both days, attending appropriate meetings, ensuring they were lined up in formation and drills, as well as having a bit of time to shop with the sutlers and hang out at the Tavern on Saturday evening with friends - there was something for everyone at this one! The Marines showed up in force and welcomed Marine Private Morgan!

Mount Clare Museum, Baltimore, Maryland

The Maryland State Marines attended a small demonstration at the Mount Clare Museum on 13 September in Baltimore, Maryland. We set up right in front of the house and were able to talk to the public that came over from the B&O Railroad Museum train ride.

TV Film Shoot

The Marines had the pleasure to be a part of the filming at Historic London Town and Gardens yesterday for a new TV series on the American Heroes Channel (formerly the Military Channel).  The show, set to air next year, is called "Secrets of the Arsenal" and the story they are in is "The Culper Ring," a network of spies organized by General George Washington.  Here are some photos of behind the scenes!

The Marines participate in living history events at Historic London Town and Gardens a few times a year doing demonstrations and drill.

Chestertown 1774 Tea Party Festival

This weekend the Marines provided law and order at the Chestertown 1774 Tea Party event in Maryland.  After raising the British Flag over the town to start the day, they kept the unruly in check.  They were able to inspect the ship in dock of cargo and ensured the taxes were paid before it could be off loaded.  There were many in town that were not happy with the latest taxes to be paid on any cargo coming into port; however, it was a beautiful day to keep the malcontents in town obeying the laws of the King!  God Save The King!

Historic London Town and Gardens - 23 March

The Maryland and British Marines turned out at Historic London Town and Gardens on 23 March to kick off their recruiting and reenactment season for 2014.  A Maryland Marine (Tim Wilson on the left) and a British Marine (Dave Shackleford on the right) are shown with civilians of the town guarding the newly acquired tractor for the site - replacing one stolen by modern day thieves.  While it was cold, it was a wonderful day with a record number of visitors attending.

The Baltimore Sun was also there to capture a musket firing demonstration with Captain McGaughey looking on.

Below are further photos of the event with drill, firing, and charging the enemy!
